How to Level An Outdoor Hot Tub

How to Level An Outdoor Hot Tub

Nearly six million American households have an outdoor hot tub. These luxurious mini spas are an easy way to get comfort and relaxation without having to go to a public spa or recreation facility. But owning a hot tub is quite a commitment, from maintenance and chemical upkeep to footing the electric bill on a monthly basis. All of this might already be on your radar, but when your new hot tub arrives, you might not be expecting this curve ball; patios are intentionally designed to slope for drainage, but hot tubs need to sit perfectly level. How are you going to level your hot tub before you fill it with hundreds of gallons of water? Never you fear! Wobble Wedges are here to provide an easy solution to get your hot tub sitting level and ready for soaking in no time.

Determine the Slope of Your Patio

Before your new hot tub arrives and before you commit to filling it with thousands of pounds worth of water, determine if your desired surface is level or not. Place a level on the surface and don’t be surprised if it’s not perfectly level. Most outdoor patio areas, especially concrete pads, are intentionally designed to slope to allow for water drainage. If you have now confirmed that your desired surface is uneven, now is the time to order your BigGap Wobble Wedges.

BigGap Wobble Wedges

Our industrial-sized wedge, the BigGap Wobble Wedge, is designed for use cases just like this! These mighty wedges can support up to 2,000 pounds and are reliant to exposure to moisture and the outdoor elements. You can use one or multiple BigGap wedges to solve for leveling your outdoor hot tub. Wobble Wedges can be stacked and combined using the patented interlocking ridges and won’t slip or slide apart under pressure.

Level Your Hot Tub

Once your new hot tub arrives and before you fill it with water, use your Wobble Wedge shims to get the tub to sit perfectly level. You will either need multiple strong individuals to help you lift and shim the tub or use of a jack to lift the tub off the patio surface. It is absolutely essential that you complete this process before the tub is filled with water, as it will be impossible to lift after it is filled to capacity. Use multiple BigGap shims along under the edges of the hot tub where it needs to be supported. Check multiple times with your level to confirm that you haven’t skewed the tub further off-kilter.

Fill Your Hot Tub and Enjoy

Once you have confirmed that your hot tub is sitting perfectly level with Wobble Wedges it is time to fill and enjoy. You want your tub to sit perfectly level before you fill it with water to ensure that all of the jets will work properly and water will not slosh out of the low-side of the tub. Thanks to Wobble Wedges you can now fill and enjoy your hot tub for a lifetime!
