Many appliances and even some pieces of furniture are now equipped with self-leveling feet. These adjustable feet twist out of their base to level and stabilize items on uneven flooring. Many appliances like dishwashers, refrigerators, and washing machines need these self-leveling feet to sit evenly and function properly. However, occasionally you’ll max out the reach of adjustable, self-leveling feet and find your appliance or furniture piece still rocking off the floor. It’s times like these that Wobble Wedges can come to the rescue!
Identify the Problem
First, don’t start by extending all of the leveling feet, as that will simply elevate your appliance. Before extending any of the adjustable feet, place the appliance or furniture piece on the flooring and gently attempt to rock it from front to back and side to side. Does it sit on all four legs or does it rock on two or three legs? If it sits on three legs, you can adjust the fourth leg to level it. If it rocks on two legs, you’ll need to adjust the other two legs to stabilize it. If you’ve done this and the adjustable feet are simply not enough, it’s time to fill the gap with a Wobble Wedge.
Choose the Appropriate Wobble Wedge
Is the gap between the foot of your appliance and the floor small or large? Wobble Wedges come in three different sizes so you can choose the appropriate wedge for your wobble. If the gap is less than .16 inches, use a Mini Wobble Wedge. Standard wedges are ideal for .25 inch gaps. And for your largest appliances, work tables, and bookshelves, use the BigGap Wobble Wedge which measures .58 inches tall. All three of these sizes are available in both rigid and flexible plastic. We recommend using flexible plastic Wobble Wedges to stabilize items on hard flooring materials like hardwood, tile, or concrete. In cases of soft flooring material, like carpeting or rugs, we recommend using rigid plastic Wobble Wedges.
Ensure Your Item is Level
Once you have identified your perfect Wobble Wedge, insertion is easy. Simply slide the Wobble Wedge into the gap between your flooring and the adjustable, self-leveling foot. Place your palms firmly on the surface of your appliances and attempt to gently rock the item from front to back and left to right. If you’ve properly leveled the item, it will not shift. Use a level to confirm that you’ve achieved your goal!
