Wobble Wedges® for Gym Owners and Managers

Stabilize Gym Equipment, Free-standing Weight Racks and More!

Gym equipment gets a lot of rough use, and can quickly become unstable. This can be a serious safety hazard and liability to your gym. Wobble Wedges® provide the perfect solution to this heavy use, as they are made from a strong, durable plastic. They can easily be carried around in a pocket by gym staff to fix issues as they arise. From leveling heavy gym machines to free-weight stands to locker room issues. Read on for 6 ways gym owners and managers can use Wobble Wedges® throughout their gyms.

Leveling Heavy Gym Machines

Heavy gym equipment needs to be stable and not move around so that your patrons remain safe. If your weight machines rock back and forth, Wobble Wedge® plastic shims can stabilize them. Our hard plastic shims can take +2,000 lbs of force, meaning even your heaviest gym equipment can be stabilized with Wobble Wedges®.

Figuring out where the wobble is might take two people, one to use the equipment and one to look for the imbalance. Once you’ve found where the equipment lifts off the ground, place a hard plastic Wobble Wedge® shim into the opening. If it still rocks, you can safely stack Wobble Wedge® plastic shims because of the patented interlocking ridges. The ridges mean that the shims will stay together and not slip!

Stabilize Treadmills and Ellipticals

Treadmills and ellipticals are definitely some of the hardest working equipment at your gym. The heavy use inevitably means they breakdown over time. To keep your gym patrons safe keeping them level and secure is important. Wobble Wedge® plastic shims can be used to stabilize the feet of these machines if they have stopped being secure. Use the same method as above to find the source of the imbalance. Then use hard Wobble Wedge® plastic shims to bring the machines back to stability.

Leveling Weight Stands

Free weight stands carry quite a heavy load, and if they rock or lean this can lead to weights falling and potential injuries to patrons. To level your weight stands, remove all of the weights from the stand and check it with a level. Place Wobble Wedge® hard plastic shims under the feet that don’t completely make contact with the floor. Replace the weights and check with a level, making sure the unit is stable. Add more plastic shims as necessary.

Stabilize Upright, Horizontal and Wall-mounted Barbell Holders

Barbells can be stored in a variety of configurations, but as they are heavy without adding weights, they need to be secure to prevent injury. Free-standing upright and horizontal holders likely don’t have adjustable feet, so they will need shims to stabilize them. Place a level on the stand and check it in all directions. Insert hard plastic Wobble Wedge® shims under the side of the stand that is opposite to the bubble on your level. Add shims as necessary to bring the bubble to the middle of the level. For wall-mounted holders you would only have an issue if the walls of your gym aren’t plumb. If that’s the case, you will want to use a level when installing your wall-mounted unit. Place plastic shims as necessary under the piece that mounts to the wall. The weight of the holder will keep the shims in place.

Stabilize and Level Free-standing Lockers in Locker Rooms

If your gym has free-standing lockers they can over time become unstable and list. It’s probably no easy task to take apart these heavy units to re-tighten all the screws and joints. So to stop them from leaning, you use Wobble Wedges® to bring them back to level. Place both hands on the locker and gently push it to see where it lifts off the ground. Have a coworker place a hard plastic shim under the corner(s) that lift off. You can use a large level to verify that it’s plumb, but more than likely just stopping it from rocking will stabilize the unit.

Fix Issues in Your Gym’s Bathrooms

Wobble Wedges® are ideal for bathroom projects. Because they are made of durable plastic they won’t rot or warp when in contact with water. They were originally made as toilet shims, as the soft plastic version protects the delicate porcelain and is strong enough to stabilize the toilet. From fixing a wobbling toilet, installing a new toilet, to leveling bathroom vanities during installation, Wobble Wedges® will come in handy!
