4 Ways to Use Wobble Wedges® in the Kitchen

Plastic Shims Fix Your Silverware Tray, Dish Rack, and more!

Does your silverware tray slide to the back of the drawer every time you open it? Does your dish rack not drain properly? What about a musty smell coming from your dishwasher? All of these are issues that hard and soft Wobble Wedge® plastic shims can help fix! Our versatile little wedges can do so much more than just level your appliances (they do that well too!).

Stop Your Slipping Silverware Tray with Soft Plastic Shims

Every time you close your silverware drawer the tray for your cutlery probably slightly moves back. If you have a very slippery surface that it’s on, it can scoot all the way to the back of the drawer for every closure. This can be annoying when you have to constantly pull it forward to grab a spoon. To fix this issue try using our soft/flexible plastic Wobble Wedge® shims to keep the tray from sliding. Place two shims at the back of the tray, the soft/flexible plastic that the wedges are made from will grip the bottom of the drawer and prevent the tray from moving.

Tilt Your Dish Rack or Draining Board

It seems like common sense that when you buy a dish rack or draining board that they would actually drain off the water from your dishes. But that is definitely not always the case! To solve this problem try using our soft/flexible Standard wedge, which is .25” high. By resting the back end of your dish rack or draining board on Wobble Wedge® plastic shims you can add a slight tilt to help the water run off and not pool underneath your dishes. As an added bonus, our soft plastic wedges will grip the counter surface, helping to keep the rack in place.

Keep Your Dishwasher From Getting Musty

A musty dishwasher can be very unpleasant, and can lead to questions about whether your dishes are actually getting clean. The simplest way to prevent your dishwasher from getting musty is to let it air-out after it runs. To keep the door slightly ajar so that it can air-out, place a Wobble Wedge® plastic shim under the lip of the counter and between the door. This will keep the door slightly open and allow the moisture that is left after the wash to evaporate out. Please note DO NOT do this if your dishwasher door is loose and could fall open, this could create a tripping hazard.

Shim Wobbling Appliances

The most obvious kitchen solution for Wobble Wedges® is to shim appliances that aren’t level. Whether it’s shimming your refrigerator, oven/stove, or dishwasher, Wobble Wedge® plastic shims will make the perfect solution. They come in 3 sizes, so you can get the right size for the gap you need to fill: BigGap™ is .48” high, Standard is .25” high, and Minis are .16” high. They also work together because of our patented interlocking ridges that mean stacking them is safe and secure! The hard plastic Wobble Wedge® shims work great on soft flooring, while the soft/flexible plastic wedges are good for hard flooring like tile, wood or stone.
